Looking out for the start of the 2009 24 Hours of Zolder!

Looking out for the start of the 2009 24 Hours of Zolder! For the drivers the endurance race actually starts one hour before 16.00hrs. There is in fact a lengthy one hour procedure which must be respected by the drivers. Once the pitlane has been opened the cars head off for the 'start grid', where the cars are set-up according to the qualifying times registered on the Thursday. Once the VIPs have viewed the cars and drivers from close by during the 'grid walk' the grid is cleared and the countdown begins.

Some three minutes before the warm-up lap the grid is entirely evacuated. With only one minute to go the engines are started and the entire field sets off for one lap of the Zolder circuit, in anticipation of an exhausting twice around the clock race. Once the red lights located on the straight at the start/finish line are extinguished, the rolling start becomes a reality and they are off for what is once again to be both a thrilling and tense 24 hours!
