Kurt Mollekens getting away from bad luck? Kurt Mollekens has been competing in national and international motersports for the last 15 years. After a wonderful single-seat career he turned to GT's and touring cars. Since 1997 his results at the Spa 24 Hours have been really impressive. Since 2000 Kurt also turned to Zolder's 24 Hours. "My first participation was 2000, indeed, on a Porsche Supercup by PSI withDamien Coens and Tom Zurstrassen. We finished 9th, being my best result at Zolder so far", comments the highly sympathetic Mollekens.
At Zolder Kurt Mollekens has been out of luck for the last few years. Also at 2004's edition: "Last year I was once again on a PSI Porsche Supercup, along with Vosse and Bouvy. But a long chain of bad luck incidents pushed us way down in the rankings. We ultimately finished 14th overall. It's clear I don't have a privileged relationship with the Zolder track, unlike Spa where I took many honours since 1997. At Zolder the good seats are really limited. You basically have to be inside the GLPK Viper to have a good prospect on the highest podium step.
Asking Mollekens for predictions, he's very clear: "Also this year the GLPK Viper is likely to win, with the Selleslagh Corvette and the Kuismanen Viper being the closest competitors. If one of the Porsches from PSI, Penders, RS or AD Sport can finish the race without problems it's likely to be on the podium among them. And my ambition is to be on that one very Porsche!"
