Voices from the pitlane before the second qualifying sessionBert Longin - First Motorsport: "I reckon we have the pole. The other cars are competing outside the category. I fully understand Speedworld's point of view allowing the Vipers to enter, but not in this manner. The AD Sport Viper still has a restrictor under its bonnet and won't be as fast as the Kuismanen Competition model. On top of that the car is 150 kilograms lighter than the configuration we used in the old days in the Belcar series. I'm convinced that both Van de Ven and Lahaye are full of good intentions for the Belgian motorsport, but in my opinion this is a small slip up. Looking to the future it can only get better."
Wim Lumbeeck - AD Sport: "Everything is running to plan. We decided to retain the sequential gearbox for the qualifying sessions, in order to put pressure on the pole. I believe that together with the Kuismanen Viper we provided a pretty enjoyable show. We resigned ourselves to the second place and with our team we still have a margin. Kenneth got in and immediately clocked a 1:36" and this goes for Menno also. This means that they can achieve this pace during the race also, which gives us great hope for the race."
Frank Thuriaux - Team manager AD Sport: "The boys deserve a feather in their caps. Twelve people worked through the night to prepare the Viper and the Porsche. The work on the Viper was planned. We fitted the H-box in the GTS-R and checked everything. But the Porsche is another story. Two different material faults led to a sheared off wheel. This cost us a great deal of time, but our mechanics slaved away through the night to bring the car back into perfect shape for the start. "
Hans Thiers - Scuderia Monza: "The Dodge Viper Competition Coupé is an entirely different sort of car to the Ferrari and the Porsche. As per usual we experienced some bad luck. Guy van Mol was up behind the Penders Porsche, who slewed off the track. The Porsche lost a few parts, which holed our radiator. The splitter was also damaged. All the same we're satisfied with our grid position. Not exactly what we had hoped for, but there's no sense in going all out to attack now. The car has to last 24 hours!"
Koen Leyssens - Team manager KS Motorsport: "The night-qualifying session wasn't up to expectations. A combination of circumstances. We couldn't find the ideal set-up, we had trouble with the tyres and the brakes weren't working properly. That should all be sorted. Steve will go out a bit later for a final attack, and we'll see what transpires, but no way does a ninth time reflect our true potential."
Raphaël van der Straeten - VDS Racing Adventures: "We've made a fair amount of progress with the Mustang GT3. It remains a heavy car, but in the meanwhile things are improving. Before the start of the season we had given ourselves the objective of matching the pole times of last year. Our target was to achieve this by the end of the season. We're now registering these times, so we're ahead of schedule. The boys have all worked really hard, so fingers crossed hat we're spared any problems during the race."
