Last-minute entry for Bas Leinders at Markant Racing!Only minutes before closing of the administrative control with the Mediagroup Van Dyck Belcar no less than Bas Leinders appeared from the pit lane. The former test driver with Minardi was spotted with a well-stuffed backpack. Leinders was heading for Markant Racing, to be seated at the wheel of the #25 Porsche 996 RSR.
Leinders' team mates on the Porsche will be regular pilots Danny De Laet, Bert Van Rossem and Joost Vollenbergh. They have high expectations! "When all goes well we ccould be aiming for a top-5 spot. I'm aiming at keeping the same pace as my team mates. We came here as a team and together we want to bring this car to the finish in one piece", Leinders tells us.
"I've been in touch with Markant Racing for ten years now. In 1995 Marc Claes used to do a complimentary paint job on my casket, a job for which I'm still very grateful", Leinders resumes. "Bert Van Rossem used to call me a lot during the last few years proposing to jump in at one of his cars. Given busy circumstances it didn't happen until... I received one more call yesterday so here I am... starting at the Euphony 24 Hours of Zolder."
