Selleslagh Racing Team deserved winners after a difficult night

Marc Goossens-Jan Heylen-David Hart-Guy VerheyenThe Selleslagh Racing Team has ultimately brought home it's first ever 24 Hours of Zolder victory. And what a gig! The Goossens-Hart-Verheyen-Heylen quartet was victorious after a wonderful race. At night it looked a lot worse after Jan Heylen got a hit from one of the slower cars. The Chevy lost a total of 20 laps in repairings on its direct competitors: "I didn't really know what happened. The first thing that sprung to mind was a flat tire. Later on the team informed me that I was hit off the track. I obviously felt pretty bad about it, even if it wasn't really my mistake. I'm so happy we managed to make up for all the time lost", Heylen tell us right after the finish.

"What a fantastic feeling", Marc Goossens explains. "It was our objective to win this race, yet yesterday at night I didn't really believe in it anymore. When I saw the damaged Corvette coming in I was afraid we would have to stop our race. I'm glad now the SRT technical crew could show it's potential to the world. The car was once again perfect, until the very last moment. The only unplanned event was changing brake platters more often than scheduled. The team did a wonderful job, so let's all go enjoy this victory!"

"Before the race you inevitably put your hopes on victory", Guy Verheyen tells us. "The team woudl absolutely be victorious at Zolder and no risk was left uncovered during preparations. We would not take comfort in second place. Yesterday night our hopes were almost blown away, but let's not talk about that anymore... All's well if it ends well!"

The only Dutchman on the quartet was David Hart, only confirming his team mates' words: "It was just wonderful taking the checquered flag with the Corvette! On team orders I took a really conservative pace through the last racing hour. It's a pity, as I was really eager to go really fast in front of this massive crowd! I could still go on for a couple of hours. I'm still in perfect shape!"
