McDonald's Racing: "Going for a top 15 finish!" McDonalds Racing as one out of three Class 1 teams competing in the Belcar Holiday Race at the Eurospeedway. The very short Class 1 entry list would guarantee a podium spot for the team, if the Porsche would simply make it to the finish. François Bouillon tells the story: "Menno Kuus and I were briefed to avoid any risk. Our target was crossing the finish line, and it proved not as simple as it would sound. After the ABS system failed during the race, we also lost the power steering. The combination of heavy steering and some very hot weather made it really hard for the drivers", Bouillon says. Yet in spite of the problems the McDonald's Racing team managed to take it's first Belcar Original podium.
This next race will be just the second entry at the Euphony 24 Hours of Zolder for the Kortrijk, Belgium based team. "We decided not to take chances, hence we have totally rebuilt the car. We did not apply any specific changes though. The car is sufficiently reliable and with a bit of luck we could be aiming for a top 15 finish. I will be sharing the wheel with Dutchman Menno Kuus and the British Lotus Elise pilot Ben Robinson. The three of us already have experience on the car, and that's really crucial to make a good finish in a 24 Hours race."
For Bouillon himself it will be his fifth entry in the 24 Hours of Zolder: "I took the start in four previous editions. My very first entry is already going back to 1979, when I finished 26th overall. Then I did compete in the 1980, 2004 and 2005 editions. All entries were equally beautiful to me. We hope to offer this year's spectators an exciting show. Although this year's Corvettes are really dominant I think their presence is absolutely a big plus for the overall entertainment value."
