Jos Menten combines Zolder 24 Hours with Donington 1000km PSI Experience will be competing on two fronts by the end of August. Next to their regular Le Mans Series programme the Thimister-Clermont, Belgium based team will also be entering a Porsche 996 GT3 RSR for the 24 Hours of Zolder. Regular Belcar pilots Frédéric Bouvy and Bert Van Rossem will take a helping hand from 'Flying Dutchman' Jos Menten. The latter will be combining his 24 Hours race with the Donington 1000 km, also taking place on august 26-27. "Our plan is I'll be competing at Zolder on Saturday. On Sunday morning I'll fly to England to drive the Corvette C6-R in the fourth Le Mans Series heath", Menten explains.
The Porsche entered at Zolder seems to hold no more secrets in the hands of the Christian Schumacher owned squad. "It's common knowledge the Porsche is one of the most reliable race cars", Menten continues. "If we stay out of trouble I think we can hope for a podium finish. Still it won't be an easy one. The Zolder 24 Hours are a wearing battle for both man and machine. The track basically doesn't contain any long straights where pilots can take a rest. You're constantly working the car, wearing out your own physical forces."
"It will be my fourth entry at the 24 Hours of Zolder. My best result so far was my rookie entry in the 2003 edition. I finished second in the overall ranking, along with Tim Verbergt and Jean-François Hemroulle, on an AD Sport 996 Biturbo Porsche. Still my best memories go to last year's 24 Hours race. We did great on the PSI Porsche 996 GT3 RSR! With team mates Fred Bouvy and David Loix we were taking second overall with only two more hours to go... only until the engine blew", the Limburg youngster concludes.
