Victory for SRT, GS Motorsport, First Motorsport and BonGou Speedlover! The Class 1 battle was business as usual for the Selleslagh Racing Team after GLPK hit gearbox troubles. The Merchtem, Belgium based team had a second consecutive victory at the 24 Hours of Zolder. After a difficult night, when the #1 Corvette spent several minutes at a gravel trap, the Patrick Selleslagh troops got a firm grip on victory. Eurotech Racing did a fantastic race, yet persisting brake problems didn’t make it easier for the Goossens-Van Dongen-Euser trio. GLPK had to take comfort with third.
GS Motorsport was victorious in Class 2. The V8 GTR BMW did a great, flawless job, bringing Severich/Josten/Moore/Muytjens home fourth overall. It’s another great result for Georg Severich. KS Motorsport had to give in only three laps on the GTR, finishing second in class. For third in class we saw a great battle up to the very last lap, when G&A Racing’s Guino Kenis overtook the ProSpeed Competition Porsche which was almost running out of fuel. Rudy Penders had dropped the pace to avoid a splash & dash stop. In the ultimate lap Guino Kenis took the well deserved third spot and sixth overall. A great finish for the beautiful MT900R G&A Racing Mosler!
In class 3 the battle was open until the very last minute. 996 GT3 Porsches from NGT Racing and First Motorsport were leapfrogging… yet ultimately Van Delm/Haane/Meert/Werckx brought it home. The NGT had to take comfort with third place, behind the #43 Porsche from GS Motorsport. The First Motorsport Porsche finished one lap ahead of the Van Loo/Thomas/Decoster/Broodcoren quartet. The #43 GS Motorsport run Porsche ran trouble free to a rewarding second in class.
The BonGou-Speedlover997 GT3 Cup Porsche #69 was the only Class 4 car staying out of trouble. For the GPR clan it was all about avoiding a retirement, ultimately rewarded with a great second in class for Dumarey/Dumarey/Dumarey/Van De Wauwer. The JMT Racing team grabbed a nice class podium on the tiny BMW E36 M3, far behind winners Tavernier/Kersten/Hahn/Langeberg. VZW 24u.be - Jan-Frans Lemmens on Sunday 27 August 2006 at 17:17. |
