Kelly Jamers (First Motorsport): To the finish with a high score They are rare at the Mediagroup Van Dyck Belcar championship and in this Euphony 24 Hours of Zolder event: female beauties driving a race car. Yet we're very happy there are exceptions, like Kelly Jamers, daughter of car tuner Jo Jamers. Kelly was somewhat born among race cars and feeling very much at home. For Kelly this is already her 4th participation in the Zolder 24 Hours – yet it will only be her third gig in the actual race. At her very first presence the car got in trouble in the first few laps, so Kelly didn't drive at all. So let's stick to a third 'race' then...
Kelly Jamers' best result was last year's race, when she brought home the Porsche 996 Supercup in 6th position overall and on the GTB podium. The podium was rewarding their consistency, more than mere speed. This year she will be driving last year's car, together with Dirk Van Rompuy ,Henk Haane and John Van Loo. Her personal ambitions are quite aggressive – equal and, if possible, improve on last year's effort. "Our mark has been put really high", Kelly admits, "still we're always eager to improve. It's not going to be easy, yet we are highly motivated and full of confidence about the car and the team."
She already keeps some fine memories about this event. She'll never forget the time when she has to use all of her 'girl power' to push the Porsche up to the refuelling stands. Kelly made it and we sincerely hope she will also manage, along with the team, to score a great result once again.
"I stil want to congratulate 24u.be with their initiative. For the fourth consecutive time the website, and the official online presence of the Euphony 24 Hours of Zolder, is being a true support for us, drivers. Yet it's also a great reward for all supporters and sponsors. Some might not be able to make it to the race, so the organisation is offering them the opportunity to follow things closely, online. I'm happy to support & take out the time for this chat."
