Champ Car - Heylen saves the day with a place on sixth row of the gridFor a while it was touch and go whether Jan Heylen would be competing in the Belgian Champ Car Grand Prix. After yesterday's serious accident, the chances of Heylen clinching a good result were put on hold... but Eric Bachelart's Conquest Team pulled out all the stoppers during the night to prepare the Panoz-chassis for the free practice and the second qualifying session.
Tomorrow Jan Heylen will be starting from the sixth row the Belgian Champ Car Grand Prix. The young driver from Geel has managed to get over Friday's disappointments, and took his #34 Grafiprint race car up into eleventh place. "This grid position still gives me some great perspectives for the race. We're going to make the most of it tomorrow ", Jan Heylen commented. The objective is to end within the top ten for the fourth consecutive race.
The pole went to superman Sebastien Bourdais. This young Frenchman who will be moving up into Formula 1 next year (Scuderia Toro Rosso), recorded an incredible 1:12,821 - a brand new lap record. VZW 24u.be - Gordon McKay on Saturday 25 August 2007 at 21:08. |
