1st qualifying session: Duval wins the initial battle - Snippets from the pitlane Notwithstanding the unfavourable climatic conditions spectators were treated to a brilliant battle for the provisional pole. It was finally François Duval with the ProSpeed Competition Porsche 997 GT3 Cup who came out on top. Duval, who finished second in the Rally of Germany, revealed himself to be the flavour of the month by keeping Vincent Vosse from pole. At the end of the session the difference between these two fighting cocks was a mere three tenths of a second and this despite the poor conditions on the track.
"That was a great battle ", Vosse laughed."But tomorrow it will be dry, and that should be to our advantage ", the Gravity Racing International-driver remarked. Kurt Mollekens claimed third time and was very pleased with the result: "We didn't get everything out of the car. Everyone completed their compulsory laps, and we are where we wanted to be. Vincent Radermecker, who also battled for pole during the beginning of the session, had to content himself with the fiurth time. The top five was rounded off by the GPR Porsche of Soulet-Dumarey-Dumarey-Goossens.
Markus Palttala brought the G-Force Porsche up into sixth place. Leo van Sande seems satisfied: "We've haven't shown our full worth yet. With Markus and Val we still have two secret weapons up our sleeve for the final pole. It looks as though it will be dry tomorrow, so in fact this session was to no real avail. But one is never certain in Belgium, but at least with a spot on the third row we're definitely on the right track."
Best lap time in Division 2 went to the NGT Porsche, ahead of BonGou-Speedlover (#164) en First Motorsport (#150). Division 3 was right up the street of CEO Racing, where Bert van Rossem registered the fastest time: "You mustn't go flat out with a Porsche 996 GT3 RS during the race ", van Rossem commented. The Thiers-Porsche, supported by Guy van Mol at Zolder, clocked up the second best time in Division 3, ahead of the Porsche 996 Biturbo of AD Sport.
