GLPK confirms participation of Marc Duez

Anthony Kumpen, Bert Longin and Val Hillebrand will be joined on the GLPK Chrysler Viper GTS-R by no less than Marc Duez. That’s what Anthony Kumpen has confirmed to our editorial staff. GLPK had been negotiating with Marc for some weeks now and apparently they’ve come to an agreement. The Ardennes-based Belgian brings in a wealth of experience. His driving skills have been requested for several endurance events this year, including the Nürburgring 24H, the Spa 24H as well as the Spa 12H.

GLPK already has set up some races with four drivers in the past, yet this year will be a very special experience for Anthony Kumpen and Bert Longin. Both drivers are equally participating in the FIA GT championship, hosting an event in Germany during the Euphony 24 Hours of Zolder. Schedules have to be met to the tiny details to have Kumpen and Longin travelling between Oschersleben and Zolder. GLPK will be using an airplane fit for landing on grass for transport. In Oschersleben there’s a runway available at the track. For Zolder they will likely be using the nearby Kiewit (Hasselt) airfield.

Next to flying both pilots back & forth there’s a complicated logistics schedule behind the event – or, two events, that is. Two different cars will be running (the Corvette C5-R for FIA GT and the Chrysler Viper for Belcar), both requiring a different approach. “That’s why Mike Gramke will also be the team leader at Oschersleben, accompanied by Toine Hezemans and the regular Corvette mechanics”, Anthony Kumpen reveals. “At Zolder we’re can rely upon our Belcar regulars. Jorge Segers will once again be the team leader, joined by a team of mechanics knowing the Viper very well. In fact we have two full blown teams available… Which avoids flying our mechanics back and forth. "
