Leo Van Sande (PSI Motorsport) aiming for the podium Leo Van Sande made his debut at the Zolder 24 Hours in 1994. It was a rather successful one, finishing 6th overall on a Poco Corse Porsche 911. In 1995 he joined AD Sport and made it to the finish once again among the top-10. In 1996 is was a big disappointment to abandon the race on the PCA Porsche. It eventually kept Leo off the track for some years, only to appear once again at the start of 2002's event. Van Sande made it to the finish in 16th spot on a Porsche 993 from RTM Racing.
The upgrade to the 996 model initially brought no luck for Leo. Both in 2003 (RTM Porsche) and in 2004 (PSI Porsche) Van Sande and his team mates had to prematurely stay at the sidelines. This year Van Sande is once again present with the PSI Porsche. "I'm obviously driving together with Markus Palttala on the Porsche GT2-R of PSI Motorsport. Our third, and possibly fourth driver has not yet been signed", says Leo. "Our Porsche will be equipped with a manually shifted 6-way gearbox and a turbo pressured engine able to deliver up to 700 hp."
"My personal taget is first of all to make it to the finish without troubles this time. Yet we have to be ambitious and I think we should be aiming for the podium. Still we also need to keep an eye on our intermediate rankings after the 6th and 12th racing hours, scoring points and consolidating our position for the Belcar championship."
