As day breaks ProSpeed are still leading, ahead of NGT and KRK As the sun was rising there had to be another unlucky team, and this year it fell upon MPM Racing by Verbist. The problem with the stuttering engine appeared to be solved, but at roughly 06.00hrs fate moved in. Following several strong stints from our overseas friends Markus Palttala and Jos Menten, Armand Fumal took over the wheel. The Cybernet-driver retained third place, but after a wheel broke off the Porsche 996 GT3 RS had to be towed in.
"What a drama", Fumal sighed. "This has costs us ten laps. We were in full battle to defend and secure our second place when a wheel breaks off. We haven't had any worries so far apart from the misfiring. Now we're back in sixth place, three laps down on the First Motorsport Porsche. They are now even taking over the lead in our class, and have been driving for 14 hours as leaders in Division 3. But we still have 10 hours ahead of us, that's a long time!"
As such NGT Racing and ProSpeed Competition see their sole remaining rival fall away from the overall victory. KRK Racing is also taking full advantage of the MPM Racing by Verbist Porsche breakdown, and positioning themselves solidly in third place. First Motorsport with the Porsche 997 GT3 Cup is up in fourth place and takes over the lead in Division 3 over. Further down the other First Porsche leads in D2.
After 15 hours of racing the ProSpeed Competition-quartet have a nine lap lead over NGT Racing. They in turn have a bonus of 9 laps over the KRK Racing Dodge Viper Competition Coupé. Unless mechanical failure raises its head it looks as though the top-three are pretty certain. But for fourth place there's suspense, with Michel Pulinx (MPM Racing by Verbist) and Niels Lagrange (First Motorsport) both lapping in roughly the same times. Further back we find the Francorchamps Motors Ferrari, the JD by Astromega Porsche, and the sole remaining A+ Racing Dodge Viper.
