24u.be ventures a forecast... The only Porsche 997 GT3 Cup S which has not experienced any problems up until now is the NGT Racing model. However Maton's troops didn't spare the material. Could this have serious consequences for the clutch and the gearbox? Time will tell. Going out from the fact that the NGT Porsche remains as reliable as it has been during the first 19 hours, we could assume that they will take the chequered flag in a winning position. However should problems arise Couwberghs, Maes, Bonnaerens and Sluys would lose their lead in favour of the MPM Racing by Verbist Porsche.
Behind the present leaders there are four cars, four laps down. Anything is possible here. Let us start with KRK Racing. A quick calculation shows us that the thirsty Dodge Viper will need to call another five times at the pump in order to finish the race. If we add the final drive problems to that... we see that the Viper with start number nine falls back to a virtual fifth place.
So what about MPM Racing by Verbist then? Apart from a broken wheel, Menten, Palttala, Pulinx and Fumal experienced few problems. Taking into consideration their consumption, the Porsche 996 GT3 RS would need to call another four times at the pump. With their faster pitstops they will retain the upper hand over the Porsche 997 GT3 Cup of First Motorsport, who also need to refuel four times for 100 litres.
The only question mark is the ProSpeed Competition Porsche. Penders-Lamot-Loix-Lémeret have once again increased their pace and have slotted in amongst the top-four... however they also need to refuel four times. Everything is therefore in the hands of the drivers, but we are venturing a small forecast.
1. NGT Racing, 2. MPM Racing by Verbist, 3. First Motorsport, 4. ProSpeed Competition, 5. KRK Racing.
