Report after 21 hours: WRT on the way to clinching victory following the KRK Mercedes accident

KRK Racing - Mercedes SLS AMGThe rain has stopped, the track is dry and the pace is increasing. The most important fact this Sunday midday is obviously the accident between the KRK Mercedes, which was lying second, and the Skylimit Race Porsche. Koen Wauters, who was behind the wheel of the Mercedes, was pushing hard to reduce the gap with the WRT Audi which was in the lead. During an overtaking manoeuvre in the Bianchi he nudged the rear end of the Porsche which slid sideways. The Mercedes then hit the Porsche a second time and broke its right front suspension. Wauters still managed to bring the car into the pits, where it was pushed into the pit garage and repairs, which took 48 minutes, were carried out. The Mercedes is now back on the track, but is 30 laps down on the leading Audi.

At Audi they can slowly start thinking about victory, the car is still running without any problems and has 16 laps lead over the second placed ProSpeed Porsche. The car emanating from Rudi Penders' stables is still holding a steady pace and well on the way to an unhoped for podium place, having earlier in the race lost valuable time as the result of a broken drive shaft.

Scuderia Monza - Porsche 997 RSBehind the three leaders we find a gaggle of Porsches with in sequence Speedlover, Level Racing, Scuderia Monza, Belgium Racing, Accent Racing, Mc Donald's Racing, Skylimit Race and GHK Racing. Almost all the Porsche car experienced worn brakes, at GHK thye entire brake system broke down after a brake hose broke. Bad luck also for the Scuderia Monza when a wheel on their Porsche broke through the middle. Luckily the braking system remained undamaged and the car was able to return to the track. The Qvick Motors BMW closes off the cars still running.
